Jak’s 18th Birthday Gift- Jak’s Den mark 2!

*Jak's Den Mark 2*  Happy 18th Birthday Jak  *Jak's Den Mark 2*

We are absolutely over the moon as a family and charity to announce that we have signed the lease for Jak's Den mark 2 at Ochil House, Livingston, and work will be commencing as soon as our Building warrant is through.

It is even more exciting that we are announcing our exciting next steps on what would've been Jak's 18th Birthday. It's been a long time coming as we have been trying to secure bigger premises since March this year when we started to outgrow our current Den.

When we opened Jak's Den mark 1 we didn't expect it to take off so quickly which is great but also not as it means sadly we have been able to support more of the 11 children in the UK that are diagnosed with cancer each day. We are now at the point though where we need ground floor and further disabled resources and counselling space now so cannot wait to get this started in earnest.

At the moment we are working with approximately 64 families directly through Jak's Den and serving many others through Edinburgh and Glasgow Children's hospitals and our families in Aberdeen by providing snacks, goodies, diagnosis and sibling sacks, vouchers and music therapy.

Our new Den which will give us almost 3 times the space we have at the moment, will have almost every single aspect that Jak asked for including provision of a neutropenic café once a month for families where the food will be cooked to stringent health and safety regulations by a local Chef, which makes me as his Mum and Mum of all our Team Jak/Jak's Den family very very proud.

As well as flexible indoor spaces for music and play therapies, media zones and a soft play, the new Jak's Den will offer an impressive outdoor space. This features a spa therapy pod, a music pod and a counselling pod, a zen garden, and an angel garden - a special place where people who are bereaved can go to remember their loved ones. The outdoor area also includes two of Jak's favourite ideas a sensory play park, and a remote control car track!

We have already raised almost half of the required £300,000 of our ambitious project, but need to ensure we have enough revenue to keep it running and also create this beautiful garden space which will be greatly appreciated by all.

We are sooo excited about this move alongside our plans to open two further Dens in Fife and Aberdeen within the next 2 years or as soon as funds and premises become available.

Can you help make this a reality? We would be grateful for any donations and if you know of any schools, community groups, churches or businesses that may like to sponsor then a special crowdfunding page has been launched today-

Thank you so much for your ongoing support.
